Princess Mia: Milk carton house

This just looks like a milk carton doesn't it?

I bet you didn't think it was this did you!

One day mummy showed me this craft on another blog and I thought it would be nice to make it sometime. Today we were all home cos we have colds and I thought "Mummy is so busy, so I'll just make it with the girls" and I did.

See how the girl and the food stands up? Do you want to know how I did it?

Look, you just bend a paper clip like this!

I taught Chia how to do it too and now us 3 sisters, Amelie, Chia and I, have our own houses and the girls made their own dolls too. We didn't have cereal boxes so I used milk cartons 'cos we have lots of those.

Chia found these paper scraps when she was sweeping the floor. Do you see what it says?

It's "U"! She found it all by herself!


Tomorrow we're going to play with our houses, and maybe you can make your own too, it's so easy and fun. I used tape 'cos I didn't want to use glue, but you can if you want.
My nose is running so I have to go to sleep now. Bye bye!

Princess Amelie: Distressed Jeans

We have some jeans that have rips and don't look so good so mummy said to make them into dressed jeans by scrubbing them on salt... Ummm rocks! We put a big rock in the jeans and a not so big rock to SCRUB-A-DUB them and make more holes! Ha ha ha. It's so funny!
I want to do it with my pajamas too!

I quickly went and said "I want to make jeans out of my bamajas" and then mummy said "Oh dear, we can't do it but we can do the jeans", so we got it and it happened like this. I did like this and like that on this video

Princess Chia: My toilet paper craft

Make a dinosaur or a shark!
I made this myself and want to show you how to do it.

You need:

• a toilet paper roll
• scissors
• paints
• newspaper
• and a marker if you want to draw eyes.

Squish it and cut a big diamond for the mouth.
Then cut little triangles for the teeth. Take them out with your fingers if they don't fall cos they're so small.

Paint it pretty and let it dry.

I made two dinosaurs & Amelie made a shark but it's not in the photo.

Mum's post: Painting

Tree branches + paint = 30 mins of quiet concentration and an exercise in dexterity.

Don't mind a bit of paint, it washes off.

We worked on this a little at a time for several days.
It takes little hands a while to get in all the small places.
They loved it and regularly scour the parks for suitable twigs.

The Princesses: Sunhat craft & gardening

We did a lot of things today.
It wanted to plant our seedlings in the garden but was sunny and we needed hats. Our summer stuff is packed away so we're gonig to show you how to make sunhats!

The Princesses: Paperdolls

A review by Mia & Chia

They're fun, they're beautiful.

There are movie stars, pretty girls, cute little girls, puffy dresses, and they look cute.

I like them cos they're girlie and fun to play with.
I like that you can choose what you want to print out and cut.
Amelie will LOVE the little girls and she will like the big ones too.

If Hollywood starlets aren't your thing, you should still check it out as there are many styles of doll. It seems my girls are all about glamour when it comes to paper dolls. ^-^
Oh yes, be prepared to do a lot of cutting if your kids are under 4.

Princess Chia: Our Advent calendar

We made an Advent calendar to count down the days till Christmas. Ours is made from toilet paper rolls, cereal boxes, electrical tape, cooking string and stickers, because we didn't have enough toilet paper rolls. We saved them but someone threw them out so we made some.
It's so fun to see what we will get. The other day we had erasers, I let Dylan choose the bunny, and Amelie choose the kitten, and I got the hamster!
And we get time tickets. Soon we will have a tickle fight with daddy, we already played dress-ups with mummy when Michelle was here, and later we will bake cookies, uh yeah, and do other things. Tomorrow I'm going to open the one and see what we get! I hope it's erasers again!

Princess Chia: My Bunny Ears craft!

Hi this is how to make bunny ears!

Step 1: Gather your materials. First you need toilet paper rolls, newspaper, PINK paint, glue, tissue and bobby pins.

Step 2: Cut your toilet paper roll in half and shape them into ears. (sorry, no photo)

Step 3: Paint them PINK!

Step 4: Put glue on the inside of the bunny ears.

Step 5: Rip up the tissue

Step 6: roll the tissue into balls and put it in the bunny ears.

Step 7: Let them dry

Step 8: Get a grown up to cut two little holes in each ear like this:

Step 9: Get a grown up to put the bobby pins in the ears and in your hair like this:

Step 10: Pose with your Bunny Ears! You're all done!

Princess Amelie: driving cars without boys

Look what we made! By we I mean me (see the sticker fish, flowers and artistic flair?), Chia (scissor master, waves in the river and lake, bushes, road and the RED house?), Mia (park, pink & purple house, 7 Eleven, etc) and mummy (big green background).
We found the idea here and it was great fun for a rainy freezing cold day. We worked on it in the morning, and again after nap. :)

(We used glue instead of tape everything & didn't cover it with contact paper cos we don't want to keep it forever.)

Mum's post: Crafty stuff

Our camera has been in hiding since Christmas (it's probably hidden somewhere in the wrapping paper and gift box pile that I desperately need to sort through) so I've been posting a lot of old stuff.

Here's an alternative thank you card/book or memento for someone(s) special that is sure to get rave reviews!
You'll need several sheets of coloured card stock folded together to make a booklet, cut 2 holes about 3 cm apart in the center, thread with a string, & tie together. We print out photos and each person gets one page to decorate themselves, with things from the craft box (i.e: large box of junk that mum collects for crafting), then we collaborate on the others.
We've made several of these, however, I forgot to photograph the rest of them... too bad!

As you can see, Amelie is mad about cutting and gluing, Chia is mad about sequins, feathers, and all things girlie, and Mia did a fantastic job with front page. They each did their own page, with minimal help, after all, it's their creation.

This one is an alternative thank you card we collaborated on for Yoko, Chia & Amelie's P.E teacher, 'cos she puts up with a lot. Their P.E slot is right after their afternoon nap and Chia has gotta be one of the crankiest kids ever when she wakes up.
